Project Overview
At Davidson County Airport in Lexington, NC, we installed a Medium Intensity Approach Lighting System with Runway Alignment Indicator Lights (MALSR) for Runway 6. The project scope included: sediment and erosion control measures, clearing and grinding, earthwork, construction of access roads, drainage improvements, fencing, cantilever and overhead structures, retaining walls, electrical work, directional drilling, traffic control, the installation of traffic safety measures, and seeding and mulching.
CHALLENGE
A key challenge was installing approach lights over a highway while ensuring compliance with FAA standards and minimizing traffic disruptions. The project also required careful erosion control and precise directional drilling.
SOLUTION
We coordinated closely with the FAA and local authorities to implement traffic control measures, ensuring safe and efficient installation. Strategic scheduling and specialized equipment allowed for seamless integration of the lighting system over the roadway.
RESULT
The completed MALSR system enhances runway visibility and safety, supporting Davidson County Airport’s operational efficiency and compliance with FAA regulations.
