Project Overview

Depot 499 is a 200+ acre development in Apex, NC, featuring 583 townhomes, two apartment complexes, a middle school, and a commercial site. Rifenburg handled rough grading for the apartments and commercial site, along with full turn-key site development for the townhomes. Additionally, we completed seven road widenings to manage increased traffic, including new and modified signals at all intersections.

CHALLENGE

The large-scale development placed significant strain on surrounding roadways, requiring extensive traffic infrastructure upgrades. Coordinating grading, utilities, and paving across residential, commercial, and educational sites while managing erosion control and stormwater posed logistical challenges.

SOLUTION

We executed a phased approach to ensure efficient site preparation and infrastructure development. Crews managed clearing, demolition, erosion control, grading, and utility installations while synchronizing road widening efforts with traffic flow demands. Turnkey widening projects included signal modifications, ensuring smooth transitions for local traffic.

Rifenburg successfully delivered site development for Depot 499, supporting residential and commercial growth while enhancing local infrastructure. The completed road widening improved traffic flow, and turnkey townhome site development ensured seamless integration with the surrounding community.
