Project Overview

Rifenburg constructed a state-of-the-art athletic complex at John J. Duggan Academy in Springfield, MA, spanning 13.8 acres. The $9.62 million, two-phase project included an artificial turf field for soccer, lacrosse, and football, a rubber-coated running track, natural turf fields, basketball courts, fitness areas, a walking trail, spectator seating, field lighting, and extensive fencing. Additional features included a wireless scoreboard, PA system, irrigation, underground utilities, and a six-bay storage building.

CHALLENGE

A major challenge was the construction of a small amenities building within the project zone, which demanded flexible logistics and resource management.

SOLUTION

To maintain progress, we modified logistics, restructured material storage, and adjusted labor staffing. Our team coordinated closely with project stakeholders to mitigate delays and ensure seamless integration of the amenities building.

RESULT

The completed athletic complex provides Duggan Academy with a premier sports and recreation facility, supporting student-athletes and community engagement. The project was successfully delivered, overcoming logistical challenges while ensuring high-quality construction and long-term durability.
