Project Overview
Rifenburg completed the civil infrastructure for the U.S. Land Port of Entry expansion in Alexandria Bay, NY, as a subcontractor to Northland/Cianbro. Our scope included foundation excavation and backfill, geothermal well construction, underground utilities, five road bores under I-81, and asphalt and concrete paving.
CHALLENGE
One of the most significant challenges of this project was maintaining full operational functionality of the existing border entry facility while constructing the new one.
SOLUTION
We implemented phased construction, traffic control measures, and proactive utility management to minimize disruptions. Close coordination with federal agencies and strict adherence to security protocols ensured smooth operations.

The completed facility enhances security, improves traffic flow, and supports cross-border trade. Our team’s planning and execution helped deliver a modernized port of entry with upgraded infrastructure and increased efficiency.
