Project Overview
This 75-acre project required 3,000 parking spaces for the 2018 concert season and full completion before the NYS Fair’s opening on August 21, 2018. The liquidated damages for failing to complete the project in time was $200,000 per calendar day. Our team not only avoided delay but received an incentive payment for successful completion 19 days early.
CHALLENGE
Major challenges included Solvay Waste removal while maintaining safety limits, a delayed work release due to property disputes, and frequent design changes. Limited work hours from weekly concerts further compressed the schedule, requiring precise coordination.
SOLUTION
Our team adjusted traffic patterns, added night shifts, and brought in additional crews to maintain progress. We adapted to design changes in real time, worked around concert schedules, and coordinated closely with stakeholders to maximize efficiency.
RESULT
The project was completed 19 days early with no liquidated damages. NYSDOT recognized our team’s ability to overcome delays, maintain quality, and meet a demanding timeline. The success highlights our expertise in complex, fast-paced infrastructure projects.
